About Cathe

Hello, and thank you for visiting! I’ve been blogging on and off since I thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2008, where I was given the “trail name” of Pounce.  Even though it took me another 4 years to embark on another long hike, by then I had formally broken my ties to the conventional American work-a-day culture.  Since the winter of 2011, I have ski patrolled full-time in the winters, and dedicated my summers to long-distance travel, spending 6 months of the year adventuring around North America.  In the process, I have become a Triple Crowner, completing the three longest north-south hiking trails in the country, as well as completing other, shorter trails.

You can find links to my earlier adventure blogs below and in the main menu.  The Appalachian Trail blog starts at a point in time about a year pre-hike, so you’ll be able to learn a lot more about my path to an unconventional lifestyle there.  My motorcycle adventure in the summer of 2013, Long Path 2016 hike, and Pacific Northwest Trail 2016 hike were comprised of Facebook-only updates.
